John H. Rippey Grant for Laboratory Quality Assurance

Award Amount: $10,000
Purpose: To support innovative projects related to quality assurance, quality improvement in pathology, or patient safety resulting in improved patient care.
Time Commitment: Project must be completed within the time frame described in the proposal.
Eligibility: All CAP members may apply.
Selection Process:
- Scientific merit within the definition and scope
- Degree of Innovation
- Transferability to the practice of pathology
- Qualifications of the applicant(s) in the subject of the proposal
- Availability of resources
- Likelihood of completion within the time specified in the proposal (not to exceed two (2) years
- Compatibility to the Rippey Grant definition and scope
Reporting Requirements: Recipients of this grant are required to prepare a series of reports:
- An interim report is due six (6) months after project initiation.
- After one (1) year, a final report is due and must be in a form suitable for submission to the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. If the paper is rejected by Archives, the author is free to submit to other journals.
- The CAP Foundation Board may also communicate the results of the project to the CAP Membership. Copies of these communications will be given to the author(s).

- Curriculum Vitae
- A narrative description of the project including the scientific rationale — not to exceed 2,500 words
- Detailed budget on a separate, single sheet. Please note, indirect organizational charges are not allowed.
